Slolwy revise your diet, watching nutrition more than anything. This is a permanent change, or you can give up now.
Keep the metabolism up: read up on this. Exercise is great, muscle does burn calories, but it still takes hours to burn off a piece of toast with a pat of butter and some jam. Back to revising your eating habits for the rest of your life.

I am also on the journey to weight loss myself and have been searching high and low for something that would work, because this is my year! And trust me it is great that you don’t want to use diet pills because they don’t work! And I am also a failure of other diets including Weight Watchers. Maybe it was just the meetings where I live, but they left me totally confused and without any support! Ok so on to what I found. I went to the website for prevention magazine and right on the first page was something called the 400 calorie fix; which intrigued me so I clicked. And to my amazement found something that sounded like it fit me to a T. It talked all about eating 4 400 calorie meals a day and losing weight. There were photos and stories from their panel of testers that have all done the "diet". I was surprised to find that there were people that lost 11 pounds in two weeks and ones that lost 18 pounds in 8 weeks; not to mention the number of inches these individuals lost on top of it. And I know what you are thinking lettuce leafs and carrot sticks right? Wrong! The book that you order is chalk full of recipes of delicious real food! 400 to be exact! They even give you tips to eat out! That’s right I said eat out! Star bucks, fast food, restaurants! And they say you cannot eat that stuff if you want to lose weight but I guess they are wrong! This also confirms what I read while searching weight loss on Bing.com. In my searching I read that dropping your calories down from a high number, lets say 2,000+ down to 1,200 isn’t a very good idea! You risk the chance of losing muscle before losing fat! And if you are anything like me you know losing muscle is not a good thing because lean muscle helps to burn fat! But reading this alone was not enough to convince me of ordering the book. Everything sounded great but like thousands of other over weight Americans I have fallen for fad diets before, and I am going to do everything in my power to not do it again. Well this past Monday I was watching my newly favorite show The Doctors! (And mind you I read the prevention website on Sunday night). And low and behold guess what they were talking about on their show that day, 52 weight loss tips and the 400 calorie fix was on there. They had the chief editor form prevention magazine right on the show talking about what I had just read the night before. No kidding you can go to their website and watch for yourself! Now as silly as it may sound I thought to myself this must be as sign! So I ordered my copy of the book yesterday, and even more good news you can try it for free for 21 days. And if you can lose 11 pounds in 2 weeks this is plenty of time to find out if this will work for you. So enough sounding like a commercial or a sales agent! I just want to share my excitement with others that are having a struggle and get them excited that there is hope! (also prevention has a lot of other tips on weight loss and other things about health).
Oh and incase you wanted exercise tips. My advice on that is make it something that you enjoy. For me I love to dance. So I bought some dance workout videos. Walking, Swimming and Dancing are all easy workouts that burn a lot of calories. And if your into the home gym thing get an elliptical instead of a treadmill. You can burn the same number of calories or more on and elliptical and they are low impact so its easier on your joints! Good luck to you.
