Im 13,5ft 4 and 98 pounds.I limit myself to 1000 calories a day because im fat,so when will people start to notice my weight loss and when will i start to lose weight?

Once you put on weight they’ll notice you. or when the wind stops blowing, which ever happens first

Weight Loss advice: Is one cheat meal per month okay?

I’m on a strict diet, and I am also exercising for fat loss/better lifestyle. I’ve lost 15 pounds, and A LOT of inches. I was just wondering if it’s okay to have 1 cheat meal per month. And it’s not like I will stuff my face with cakes and icecream…but to allow myself to have a regular meal containing red meat and empty calories (like white bread).

Taking pills is the worst thing you can do for yourself. You should try working on your eating habits and set small and achievable goals at first. Also start an exercise regimen. Remember, weight loss should be slow, gradual and permanent! Not a quick fix unless you want to fail at it. If I want to lose fat in a certain area, is it better to do exercises for that area?

For example, I want to lose fat in my thighs, belly, and love handles. I’ve heard that you can’t lose fat in a specific area and the only way to lose fat is just cardio. So should I bother to do bicycle crunches and other workouts that work out those specific areas or should I mostly just do cardio?

You cannot spot lose fat. You can however tone the areas that you are not happy with.

Any ideas on how i integrate a fat loss programme with a muscle building one?

I currently have a 3 day spilt muscle training programme, along with that i’d like to involve a cardiovascular workout so I can burn fat as this is something I am hoping to achieve.

I have a crosstrainer at home, in terms of fat loss and fitness, how many days should I do it a week and to what intensity, i’m thinking of interval training.

Interval training is definitaly the way to go, you dont need to use the cross-trainer, the fittest people i know simply go outside and run. I suggest you read this http://www.squidoo.com/fat-loss-through-cardio for a few good interval training ideas, following any of those a few days a week should help. How often depends on your muscle training programme. If you train legs seriously hard on Friday, it’d be unwise to to interval training on Saturday, and possibly even sunday. I prefer full body workouts personally, but a 3 day split should still be good. I suggest reading that article first and foremost. If you have your diet under control, you should only need to do interval training maybe 2-4 times a week, occasionaly it can be ok to do it on your workout days depending how hard you are working the muscles involed in the interval training. Try and do it between 2 and 4 times a week however, closer to 4 if possible. You’ve just got to remember to listen to your body, if your doing it 4 times a week, and you are struggling, getting tired or showing symptoms of overtraining, then stop, rest for a while, and decrease the cardio or workout times.

How to lose weight without cutting out alcohol?

I’m trying to lose about 10 pounds and tone up a bit. Im a freshman in university and like to have a good time like any other uni student i occasionally drink a bit with friends. I know that if you are trying to lose weight you should really cut out alcohol of your diet but i don’t want to have to miss out on anything because of wanting to lose weight. So i was just wondering what would be the best way to go about losing weight without cutting alcohol out completely. Whats the least fattening alcohol?

Muscle weighs more than fat, so it’s OK to build muscle while losing fat. Don’t be afraid of making muscle.

Eat healthy – don’t cut the calories too much, but do eat a smaller amount. Eat fruits and veggies, lean meats, and whole grains (100% whole wheat bread instead of white, brown rice, etc.)

Drink water – cut out the soda/pop. Try to get 8 cups (measuring cups – 8 ounces) of water each day.

Couple a healthy diet with cardio workouts – 3-5 days a week, 20-30 minutes per session to start. You can walk, jog, bike, play basketball, do aerobics… whatever you enjoy doing that gets your heart rate up. You don’t have to work out so hard that you feel like you’re dying – work out to the point that you can talk fairly easily, but not jabber on and on. :)

Do strength exercises to build muscle (yep, I’m suggesting this). Building muscle helps you lose fat even faster by speeding up your metabolism. Sit ups, push ups, squats, lunges… all these will help. Do these only every other day – don’t strength train the same muscles two days in a row.
