    Not at all. Like …
Not at all. Like you say, I know what works for me. I just have trouble with blanket statements like “cardio sucks”; especially when it’s not true! :)

  2. msstabby says:

    You’re “insulted” …
You’re “insulted” by this? Seriously, grow some thicker skin, don’t take things so personally. Do what works for you and leave the rest behind.

  3. gazpalmer says:

    And who is …
And who is insulting who here?

“…how much of a joke cardio is”?, “Best cardio workout”?

Gimme a break. That’s an insult to anyone that believes and perform cardio as part of their training. The video drips with arrogance!

  4. gazpalmer says:

    I don’t believe …
I don’t believe that you can just eat less calories and skip the cardio. There’s a metabolic effect from performing cardio that allows us to eat more. Sure, HIIT ramps up this effect even moreso than LISS but HIIT (and circuits) with adversely affect training perfomance (I keep my training pretty much the same despite my goal).

For the record (and without sounding like an ), I’m pretty sure I’m bigger, stronger and as lean as CB and Brad..

  5. gazpalmer says:

    I’m not insinuating …
I’m not insinuating anything of the sort. It clearly works for those looking to lose weight. I have issue with the fact that cardio is a “joke”.

I’ve been training for about 7 years, I don’t compete. For this reason I don’t need to get to 4-5% BF. I found without cardio vs lower calories (re: less carbs), I couldn’t grow and my performance wouldn’t improve. I added cardio either AM or PWO, increased my calories and I grow and stay lean.

  6. AlekNovy says:

    Gazpalmer… What …
Gazpalmer… What competitions you do and how many YEARS you been doing this cardio strategy for? We’re talking competitive bodybuilders. Everyone who’s not competing and following their constest-prep recommendations is in for a bumpy, needless ride. I know, I was there for 10 years, and I even went around like you convincing people it was the right thing.

The “business man, tells people what they want to hear angle” line is border-line insulting. You’re insinuating its not true, but a gimmick.

  7. ww2spitfirepilot says:

    Cardio is a joke. …
Cardio is a joke. This video rocks. The next time you film something like this, can i be the guy eating donuts, a greasy burger, or kung pao chicken???

  8. crvc5060 says:

    You never think of …
You never think of BB’ers demonstrating irony. :-)

  10. gazpalmer says:

    It’s ok to drink …
It’s ok to drink chocolate milk after training btw ;)

  11. FitnessDreamMaker says:

    Craig and Brad,

    I …
    Craig and Brad,

I think this is a TOTALLY charming video and should be taken in the spirit in which it was made – it drives an important point home.

It’s like art, it doesn’t take a lot of thought but connects just the same. And the message – can’t outtrain a bad diet – is something I’ve been needing to say to clients a LOT these past couple of weeks – so the timing is perfect!

    Bravo, and fun fun!

  12. gazpalmer says:

    Then CB should …
    Then CB should qualify that…

Most bb’ers these days will perform cardio year round (I know I do). I rarely creep above 15% BF. I perform 30-60 mins a day. is that really too much? So I would say I sustain a solid physique year round.

Sure, CBs market isn’t bodybuilders and he’s telling people what they want to hear (He’s a business man, after all) but the whole “omg NO CARDIO” angle just gets plain annoying after a while.

  13. AlekNovy says:

    Cardio has its …
Cardio has its place in many a bodybuilder’s regimes for a very simple reason… They’re NOT looking for a sustainable weightloss. They need to lose the most weight in a short-amount of time with no expecations to keep it off.

So they do BOTH hardcore dieting and hardcore cardio.

The cardio badshing only refers to people using bodybuilder-levels of cardio in trying to achieve a life-time physique, which like most bodybuilding regimes, doesn’t work for sustainable weightloss.

  14. AlekNovy says:

    They have a …
They have a different definition of a “healthy diet”, in BradPilon’s world for example, a non-healthy diet is one that lacks moderation, variety and involves binging and caloric excess (due to over-eating, not because of eating certain types of foods).

So yes, you can have pizza in healthy diet, except if it was a healthy diet, you wouldn’t find yourself downing 7 pieces in 4 minutes…

  15. SchoolhouseTechno says:

    The point is the …
The point is the retardation of people saying that they will work off the piece of cake they are eating at the gym tomorrow.

You are never going to work off an entire meal at the gym. With a good workout you might burn all of the calories of your eating over the course of the day…but cardio is really only useful to jump start your metabolism.

  16. Highlandaz says:

    I agree with others …
I agree with others in that even with a healthy diet your always going to consume more calories than you’ll burn in the same amount of time,… but i get the point! Good exercise and a healthy diet goes great like a hand & glove.

  17. KPadraic781 says:

    I agree with others …
I agree with others….I like Craig but he seems a little hypocritical about cardio b/c cardio is part of TT! It’s just not slow, long session cardio, but it’s still cardio!!!! I get really annoyed when he says cardio sucks without qualifying what he means. I realize it’s just an attention grabbing thing about opinion more than fact. Other than that, Craig is awesome!

I do like the video to show that you don’t lose as many calories working out as you think, which is so true!

  18. Shuukyuu says:

    The comparison …
The comparison method is stupid, even a healthy diet you’ll consume more calories than you can possibly burn in the same time interval.

  19. CheezMonsterCrazy says:

    Brad will just fast …
Brad will just fast it off. xD

  20. deanofmean25 says:

    very useful. most …
very useful. most of america needs to watch this

  21. KalifUmestoKalifa says:

    Yeah, you can’t out …
Yeah, you can’t out train a bad diet.
PS. If you were on a fat loss diet HIIT would probably be too much for you. Do the cardio and try to apply same principles to it as you do to weight training: progressive overload, periodic variations in type of stimuli etc. Once you have been on a cardio program for a while and further increase in intensity would mean unacceptable increase in workout duration then try HIIT, but increase the cals or don’t expect to recover too well.

  22. gazpalmer says:

    I get the point, …
I get the point, diet vs exercise…. but so much cardio hate.

I’ll probably get a bunch of thumbs down for this but still.. I’m getting real tired of the cardio bashing, CB! I sub to your twitter too, but man.. cardio has it’s place. It also optimal fat burning whilst maintaining mass. I wonder why bodybuilders don’t do HIIT?

ood luck to you but don’t bash something you KNOW has a place in millions of athletes training.

    Rant over.

What next? Periodic fasting? Oh wait…

Brad, nice of you to eat some pizza in the name of science!
Craig, is that the first time you have been on a treadmill in years? Haha. I stay off them myself too.
    Good stuff guys!
