Weight loss "advice" from a fat person?

I am currently doing Weight Watchers & I am doing OK…I am still breast feeding my daughter so I have been allocated a pretty hight daily points amount so it is slow going but that is OK as I am still losing weight…whenever my Aunt sees me she always tries to give me advice on what I SHOULD be doing to lose weight…she says things like "If you’re not hungry then its not working" & "You shouldn’t be eating that, you should just have a salad & some water"…

She doesn’t understand how weight watchers works & thinks that the only way to lose weight is to starve yourself. What really annoys me is that she is pretty overweight herself. Sure, back in the day she was slim & hot but now she is big & not (hot)!

So how do I stop her from making comments without offending her?
ELECHEART: My daughter is now over 12 months old & has dropped her feeds down to 1 or 2 overnight & 1 when she wakes up…Weight Watchers do take this into account & I have to add an additional 7 points per day for the extra pressure on my body. I made a point of not worrying about my body & how it looked up until now because I didn’t want to be worrying about a small baby & trying to lose weight but I feel like I am ready now. I have reached a stage where I am really ready to be doing soething for myself again & losing weight is something I need to do for myself…so I can feel better about the way I look. My husband has been completely supportive & has said that he loves me no matter what I weigh but I just don’t feel attractive anymore & I want to be happy with what I see in the mirror again!

I get your point but I am not doing anything drastic or silly to lose this weight so I am not in any way compromising my health or the quality of my breast milk! Thank you for worrying!

Do the weight loss programme the way you want to.Keep at it even if it takes a bit of time.Tell your Aunt you are doing it the way you are taught to by weight watches.Watch her face when you achieve your goal.Remember if you loose weight to quick then you can gain it back twice as fast so loose it slowly .All the best.

I think that you should tell him in the nicest way possible that her comments are hurting your feelings and that you are dieting a healthy way.Or Tell her that you have read how complex carbs, are better for your body, because they not only give you energy, but also help build muscle and if she says much else, try not to take it to heart or tell her that "I didn’t put this weight on overnight, and it’s not going to come off that way either"

Tell her that you’re in a program that’s teaching you about your weight and the foods that are good for you and you want to continue following their regimen because you like it.

But thanks for the advice anyways.

You are breastfeeding and on a diet?? Why do we pressurise ourselves so much. You have to eat a balanced diet to feed both you and your child, I hope weightwatchers are taking your extra needs into account. As for your Aunt, either ignore her or ask her to change the subject or ask if she would like to come to weightwatchers with you. She can concentrate on her own body and argue with the tutors

Just start laughing. Loudly. She’ll get the message. Eventually.
