How long does it take to lose fat from running and working out?

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

I’d just like to know how long it takes to lose fat and where the fat is taken from. I’ve been running for bout 4 weeks now for about 5-6 days a week. I’m 14, 5′1, and 110 lbs.

Also, how long will it take for you to actually see a difference in your fat? Because I know running gets rid of fat all over your body, so I guess it might take a long time.

First of all, you do not need to lose fat, you are thin!! If you exercise, you should be doing activity that makes your heart beat faster for 25-45 minutes a day. When I run, i would normally see results in 3 days, but i don’t do it that often, so maybe it’s just me. I also eat healthier and do crunches and it helps a lot.

Fastest way to lose fat on thigh and belly?

Friday, August 6th, 2010

I know there’s no such thing as losing fat fast and that I have to be patient and exercise etc.
But what exercises should I really focus on to lose thigh fat and belly fat? If you have a workout plan, I would appreciate it if you tell me..And how many weeks until I see results?

AND I do eat healthy!

Best way to lose fat, is…

To be honest and true, there is only one way to lose body fat. And that is lose it over your ENTIRE body. You cannot "spot" treat any problem areas. Huge misconception.

Here’s how I would build a good workout program for you:

1. Do resitance training. Yes, lift weights.

2. HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)

I would lift 3-4 times a week. Each workout you train with weights here is a good layout to keep in mind:

Upper Body:

Push (horizontal) Movement
Pull (horizontal) Movement
Push (vertical) Movement
Pull (vertical) Movement

Lower Body:
Quad Dominant (2 exercises)
Hip Dominant (2 exercises)

From here i’ll explain more in detail. You should perform supersets. A superset is simply doing one exercise and IMMEDIATELY going into another one, taking a rest, then repeating. I would pair a upper body and lower body exercise for your supersets. For example:

A1: Bench Press
A2: Squats
B1: DB Row
B2: Deadlifts

As you can see you would do A1 and A2, take a rest, then repeat multiple times. Then continue on to B1 and B2. As you can see I have paired a lower AND upper body in each superset. This will effectively burn fat much faster and is much of a more compound movement, allowing your ENTIRE body to work.

From here I will suggest interval training. Interval training can be customized to the way you want to do it. Here is how I do it:

2min jog, 1min full-sprint = 1 round

Repeat for 3-4 rounds. Do this on the days between lifting weights and you will be losing easily anywhere from 2-4lbs a week.

The best way to see results is to try and not look at your naked body in front of the mirror. If you can’t refuse to do this, take a picture from your "start" date and take one each week from then. You will constantly see changes in the pictures. Between 12-16 weeks, you should be able to see some great definition, if not, abs…

How to lose fat on your thighs and calf?

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

I am 12 years old and i want to lose fat in my thighs and calfs. I am a size 3 in skinny jeans. I don’t know how to lose fat in my calfs without adding mussle. I don’t want to add mussle but i still want to lose fat.

Cardiovascular exercises, such as jogging, swimming, dancing, etc., will help burn fat. Combine that with a healthy diet and you won’t put more fat on than you burn.

What is the best exercise to do in order to lose fat on thighs for women?

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

I’m really sensitive about my thighs and am determined to lose the fat I have on them along with toning them. It’d be great if in the exercises I could also lose some fat on my hips.

Everyone has a problem spot. It can be around the stomach, thighs, arms or chest. No matter where your trouble spot is, the solution is exactly the same. You need to eat less and exercise more. The reason why there’s only one solution for all of these problems is because it’s impossible to tell your body where to burn the excess fat from.

When you eat too many calories, your body stores the excess energy as fat in different areas around the body. To lose this fat, you need to create a calorie deficit (eat less than you burn) to force your body to start burning that fat for energy. There is absolutely no way to control where your body goes to find this extra fat.

The larger your calorie deficit (a bigger calorie deficit means a bigger difference between what you eat and what you burn) the faster your body will burn excess fat and the quicker your body fat percentage will start to decrease. You can increase your calorie deficit by cutting your daily intake and exercising more. Sit ups will do nothing to target the fat around your abs just like squats will do nothing to target the fat around your thighs. How to lose fat without gaining more muscle?

Friday, June 18th, 2010

I’ve been trying to lose weight for a while and i have lost some, but i’ve also gained tons of muscle because i’ve been running a lot and strength training now and then. I’m still not at my goal but the more i exercise the bigger my legs are getting and they’re already big enough haha. (Plus, isn’t it true that if there’s a lot of muscle under fat, it;s harder to lose it?).
I’ve been "dieting" too so there’s not much i can change there, any suggestions?

If you do cardio you shouldn’t gain much muscle. Strength training is what’s causing you to gain muscle probably

How can a paraplegic lose fat in their legs?

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

I have a friend who wants to lose some fat, especially in her legs but she is a paraplegic (paralyzed from the waist down). How can she lose the fat when she can even move her legs without surgery to remove the fat?

You can’t target where you want to lose fat. She could try reducing her intake of calories to lose weight overall, and that may reduce the fat on her legs. Can a physical therapist move her legs in some form of exercise so the muscles don’t atrophy and her legs tone up? I’m not sure how that works with paraplegics.

To lose fat and man boobs, should I be running faster and in shorter sessions or slower in longer sessions?

Friday, June 4th, 2010

I want to lose some fat and my man boobs. I was wondering should I be running faster in short sessions or slower in long sessions?

I don’t really know about running but if you want to lose fat then you should run and also start weight lifting. Muscle burns fat the fastest so if you balance that and running then you should be fine. You should also try to avoid fatty foods and eat often but not in large amounts. So eat about every 2-3 hours, run, lift weights and you should be good.

How to lose belly and chest fat for a male without gaining muscles?

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

I want to lose fat that makes me look thinner. I don’t want to do any resistant training to achieve this nor do i want to gain mass muscles.
Suggestions?

I always find the best way for me to lose weight is just to start walking a lot more. Just add 30 mins to an hour of walking a few times a week and you will see it fall off pretty fast. I see my unwanted weight gain go fast and since you are male yours will go much faster. It is a great way to loose the weight but not add muscle. If you find you want to start to add muscle tone later on you can always add something more later on:-) Best of luck to you!
