Is weight loss a possible symptom of heart failure?

I know people suffering from congestive heart failure can gain weight because of swelling, but can weight loss also be an HF symptom?
Thanks for all the answer so far :)

But, I figure that because of all the swelling in my abdominal cavity, I feel full much faster and therefore eat less. Does that make sense?

well your bodys basic metabolic needs are not been met so it is a possibility

Not really, it just doesn’t work that way. The flabby heart doesn’t pump well, fluid backs up into the
lungs and you have fluid overload in the bloodstream that causes weight gain which is usually monitored closely. Kidney failure will also cause weight cain since the waste cannot be filtered out of the body properly.

People gain weight with HCF because of the body retaining fluids (aka swelling).

If you have lost weight due to fluid retention being reversed (stop using salts, taking a diuretic, etc) that does not mean you have heart failure.

I have not known of weight loss being a sign or symptom of heart failure.

If you’ve had mysterious weight loss, see a doctor or some other professional care giver. Many other things can be responsible for loss of weight: cancer, diabetes, and more.

No, I don’t think so…that would be more of a thyroid issue, which can LEAD to a heart issue if left untreated…
